In this piece Tchaïkovsky uses a fixed tonal center, b minor, and lets the harmony move through different degrees, this is very ...instructive as the user will encounter different harmonic functions.
My favorite part being the comparison between two manners to exchange the tonic with the triton vertically and horizontally.
This differs from the piece Romeo and Juliet from Prokofiev, also studied here, where the tonal center moves by third and the composer employs regular patterns.
